It’s a magnificent trek, with the true image of the High Andes and one of the most spectacular Andean trekking adventures. You will have the chance to meet traditional Quechua natives who live at 14,000 feet above sea level, tending their herds of lamas and alpacas. They live in an isolated region of the Vilcanota’s Cordillera, among sparkling glaciers, colorful lakes and relaxing hot springs. You will have a good chance of seeing condors, the world’s largest flying bird, as well as that of having close encounters with the marmotlike vizcacha and other species of Andean fauna, catch a sight of a herd of rare vicuñas, a wild relative of the lama, practically extinct elsewhere and to observe birds of the high Andes, such as geese, pua ibis, caracara hawks, torrent ducks and of course, the majestic Andean condor.
