ATV 24: LIMA – CUSCO – PUNO – AREQUIPA (11D-10N)

DESCRIPTION:

1st DAY: Lima: Arrival in Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, City Tour of Lima, including the Main Square, the Cathedral and visit to the National Museum, to then return to your hotel. (Dinner).

2nd DAY: Cusco: After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Cusco; the ancient Incan capital city. After your arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, City Tour of Cusco, including Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo and Puka Pukara. Return to your hotel. (Breakfast).

3rd DAY: Sacred Valley: After breakfast, our staff will meet you at 08:45 a.m., to take you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, passing by Incan agricultural terraces and farm land in the heart of that fertile region, to reach the village of Pisaq and its typical market, to see the handycraft work many of the local natives exhibit there. Then, we’ll have lunch at a local “hacienda”, in the Sacred Valley. Afterwards, we’ll proceed with our circuit to Ollantaytambo; the oldest continuously inhabitated Incan town. There, you’ll get to know several important Incan architectural structures. At the top of the sixteen colossal terraces, lie the impressive archaeological sites of Ollantaytambo, like the Fortress for example, where it is known that Manco Inca fought some of his most famous battles against the Spaniards. Return to your hotel. (Breakfast & Lunch).

4th DAY: Machu Picchu: First, our staff will transfer you to Cusco’s railroad station. From there, we’ll go by train, winding among the Andean mountains and going by several small villages. After a long but interesting trip, we’ll get to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll take a 15 minute bus ride up to the Historical Sanctuary of Machupicchu. There, your guide will inform you about the history and myths that surround this architectural wonder. After the visit, we’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to have lunch. Then, we’ll board the train to go back to Cusco, where our staff will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel. (Breakfast & Lunch).

5th DAY: Cusco – Puno: Transfer to the railway station, to board the wonderful Andean Explorer’s Train. Lunch will be served aboard Peru’s “Orient Express”. On this trip, we’ll enjoy beautiful views along the meandering Huatanay River and among unmatched mountains. Upon arrival, our staff will transfer you to your hotel in Puno. (Breakfast & Lunch).

6th DAY: Lake Titicaca (Uros – Taquile Island): After breakfast, we´ll go on a tour by boat on Lake Titicaca, to the Uros islands, as well as to Taquile and in the afternoon, return to your hotel.

7th DAY: Sillustani – Arequipa: Journey towards Juliaca and an excursion to Silluastani´s pre-Incan towerlike tombs. In the afternoon, we’ll take a bus on a 6 hour trip to the city of Arequipa where we´ll transfer you to your hotel.

8th DAY: Arequipa – City Tour: After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the “White City”, which includes a visit to the beautiful Cathedral and the Santa Catalina Convent. Return to your hotel.

9th DAY: Colca Canyon: Early departure from Arequipa, heading towards the National Reserve of Pampa de Cañahuas, to sight groups of alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos in their natural habitat. Then, we´ll descend into the Colca Valley, going by several villages, to get to Chivay; the valley’s most important locality, where we´ll get settled at the fabulous Colca Lodge, with its very own hot springs. There, we´ll relax in the midst of the canyon´s awsome landscape.

10th DAY: Cruz del Condor’s Vantage Point: Early departure to reach the Vantage Point of the Cruz del Condor, where we’ll have the best chances to see the Andean condor’s flight. Later on, return to Chivay, where we’ll visit some pre-Incan tombs. Lunch and in the afternoon, return to Arequipa and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner.

11th DAY: Breakfast and transfer to Arequipa’s Airport, to take your flight to Lima’s Internacional Airport. End of our services.
